Tobacco Barn Renovation
From Weeds To Wow!
This was a very fun and personal project. My husband has always wanted a little cabin in the woods. We purchased Copper Run Farm with only one standing structure, a 20ft by 20ft tobacco barn in very poor condition. Eddie had the hard job along with our son to rebuild the barn while I was in charge of designing the floorplan and décor. It was important to Eddie to have the "new" cabin retain the charm of an older cabin in memory of his grandfather's farm. Each decision was made with keeping the cabin authentically vintage but comfortable for guests.
The project started with graft paper and a dirt floor!!! We took this structure down to the frame and rebuilt it inside and out. I spent months shopping for vintage pieces to repurpose in the cabin to keep the space from feeling too new. My favorite "new" purchase was a vintage replica of an old refrigerator. Our cabinet maker added a cabinet below the fridge to lift it to a more modern height.
